1939—Joseph Gerber starts Gerber Legendary
Blades after his hand crafted kitchen cutlery becomes an overnight sensation.
1951—Pete Gerber, son of founder Joseph Gerber,
takes over management of the company.
1966—Gerber introduces the MK II combat
knife and it becomes the most sought after military knife during the Vietnam
War.
1968—Gerber introduces "Armorhide" Handles.
1981—Gerber creates the LST with Micarta handles
the first all-synthetic lightweight handle.
1984—Gerber is the first to use injection molded
knife handles.
1991—The Folding Gator series by Gerber is the
first knife ever constructed with integral injection molded nylon and Kraton
rubber.
1991—Gerber introduces the Multi-Plier. Within
two years it becomes one of Gerber's most popular products.
2002—The Silver Trident™ military knife designed
by Chief James "Patches" Watson.
2003—The Recoil™ Auto-Plier, and the Gerber
Emerson Alliance™.
